Slamming the West Bengal government for packing off controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it is a "total capitulation" before fundamentalist forces.
In a statement, party national executive member and former West Bengal unit president Tathgata Roy said the BJP expressed solidarity with Taslima and demanded not only extension of her visa, but also that she be given Indian citizenship.
"The Rajasthan government was put in a very embarrassing position by the action of the West Bengal government as they had no time to organise necessary security for Taslima," he said.
