Cyclone Sidr, which ravaged Bangladesh's southwestern coast -- destroying thousands of houses, uprooting trees and snapping power lines -- is moving towards Tripura and south Assam, meteorological officials said on Friday.
Officials in the Regional Meteorological Centre of Assam said several places in Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Barak valley of Assam had been witnessing heavy rainfall since Thursday night.
The wind speed in parts of south Assam and Meghalaya was recorded over 40 kmph.
