West Bengal's ruling Left Front constituent Revolutionary Socialist Party will take a final decision on continuing in the Buddhadeb Bhattacharya ministry on Wednesday, party sources said on Tuesday.
The RSP, which has been sharply critical of front major Communist Party of India-Marxist for the recapture of Nandigram, held a marathon state secretariat meeting to decide on the issue of remaining in the ministry.
The matter will now come up before an emergency meeting of the state committee on Wednesday, the sources said.
"The state committee will take the final decision," the sources said.
Two RSP ministers -- Kshiti Goswami and Manohar Tirkey -- have expressed their desire to resign from the ministry over the Nandigram issue.
Public Works Department Minister Goswami had earlier said, "We cannot support capture of territory at gunpoint, which resulted in bloodshed in Nandigram."
He, however, said CPI-M was 'realistic'. "Public memory is short. Opposition parties in the state are ineffective. CPI-M knows how to tackle the situation. They are realistic."
Accusing CPI-M of taking unilateral decisions on various issues, including Nandigram, he said, "We (the allies) are just showpieces. What one party says, it does. Not only on Nandigram, CPI-M has taken unilateral decisions on other issues too. The Left Front is in disarray."
