Tehelka sting: Magazine saddened by Centre's response

Weekly magazine Tehelka on Wednesday said that they were saddened by the lack of response from the United Progressive Alliance [ Images ] government at the Centre about its sting operation into Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's [ Images ] alleged complicity in the post-Godhra carnage in 2002.

"We are saddened that neither the prime minister nor the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has made even a single statement on the expose," Tehelka's Editor (Investigations) Harinder Baweja said during a talk organised in Mumbai [ Images ] on Wednesday.

Baweja also expressed surprise that the courts have not taken suo-motu cognisance of the tapes as they do in other cases.
