Pakistan woke up to a different world on Sunday. Emergency was clamped; private channels blacked out. The only way to get information for ordinary people was newspapers. According to the Pakistan prime minister, there has been no ban on the print media. But he was quick to add that a model code of conduct for the media will soon be implemented.
Meanwhile, Pakistani forces deployed around key state buildings have rounded up leading critics of Musharraf.
At least 500 lawyers have been arrested in Islamabad. Many leaders, including ex-cricketer Imran Khan, have been placed under house arrest.
