Shiv Sena member in Nasik Municipal Corporation, Vishnu Pawar, who was facing allegations of submitting forged documents for contesting the election, has tendered his resignation, NMC sources said on Tuesday.
Pawar, who represents Ward 91 of the NMC, submitted his resignation to the civic body Commissioner Vilas Thakur on Monday.
Pawar had contested the civic body elections in February, defeating NCP candidate Shivaji Chumble.
However, Chumble last week had alleged that Pawar had submitted false documents while filing his nomination papers
for the polls.
When asked to submit required papers and proofs to support his 'false caste certificate' within two days, Pawar 'backed out' citing personal reasons, sources added.
