Two hand grenades were found in Patanala area in Kannauj on Saturday morning, close on the heels of the seizure of explosives from several parts of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the grenades were discovered by sweepers who were cleaning the area.

The grenades were taken to the police lines where the bomb disposal squad would defuse them.

Police recovered about 10 kg of explosives and 20 litres of ammonium nitrate from a waiting room of the Faizabad railway station on May 23, hours after serial blasts rocked the temple-town of Gorakhpur on Tuesday.

On Thursday, police recovered a live hand grenade from a platform at Farrukhabad railway station.
