Scotland has got its first Asian Member of Parliament.

Lawmaker Bashir Ahmed took oath at a swearing in ceremony in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Scotland.

SNP leader Alex Salmond said before taking the oath of allegiance: "The Scottish National Party's primary loyalty is with the people of Scotland, in line with the Scottish constitutional tradition of the sovereignty of the people."
