Accusing the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of "terrorising" minorities in Rajasthan, the Congress on Tuesday demanded that the leaders of the Sangh outfit be banned from entering the state if communal harmony has to be maintained.

Referring to the recent attack on a pastor and the alleged threat to another, Pradesh Congress Committee president B D Kalla told reporters "in the garb of anti-conversion move the VHP and Hindu fundamentalists have been terrorising the minorities and creating a feeling of insecurity in society".

He alleged that the BJP government's moves to lift the ban on 'trishul diksha' (trident distribution) and free VHP leader Praveen Togadia, had encouraged the members of the outfit.

"The VHP activists have become fanatic in the state and as a result the minority people especially Christians and Muslim clerics were not secure," he alleged.

"The recent attack on a pastor and threat to another was a symbol of feudal mindset of the Raje rule," Kalla said and warned the Vasundhara Raje government against avoiding the issue saying it would create disharmony in the state.

"Whether it is Togadia or (VHP president Ashok) Singhal's statement... the entry of VHP leaders should be banned in Rajasthan if communal harmony is to be maintained," he said.

Expressing concern over the alleged leakage of Justice Anoop Chand Goyal's probe report into 2005 police firing on farmers at Sohella in which five persons were killed, he demanded that the BJP government ensure action against the then Collector and Superintendent of Police.

"Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje should now re-think on her promise to Tonk people for providing water to farmers through Tordisagar dam from Beesalpur and tell us when this promise would come true," Kalla said.
