The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a bunch of petitions, which sought enhanced compensation for victims of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.
A bench comprising Justices C K Thakker and Altamas Kabir, however, said that if any of the victims was denied proper compensation, he or she can approach the Claims Tribunal for appropriate settlement of claims.
The petitions were filed by various non-profit organisations and individuals, who sought a nearly five-fold increase in the $470 million compensation.
The petitioners had claimed that the compensation was inadequate and that several victims had not received the amount till date.
