Congress president Sonia Gandhi will begin her election campaign in Uttar Pradesh addressing rallies at Kanpur while Rahul Gandhi will launch his second road show in Bundelkhand belt in the first week of April.
Sonia will be addressing meetings on April 4 and 5, the last two days of campaign for the first phase of polling on April 7, party sources said.
"Rahul will hold his public contact programme for three days in Lalitpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Etawah and Agra from April 2 for three days," the sources said.
Rahul's road show this time too would be dotted with public meetings at select places, they said.
Congress is banking on his road shows in a big way as it feels he had created an impact during the first road show earlier this month in western Uttar Pradesh. The route for the second leg of the road show passes through Samajwadi strongholds like Etawah and Agra while the Bundelkhand belt has a strong BSP influence.
Congress has a good base in Kanpur and adjoining areas.
