Promising to focus on the electricity problem dogging Uttar Pradesh [ Images ], Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav [ Images ] on Saturday said he will provide an additional 1,930 kw electricity in two years if the Samajwadi Party is voted back to power.
The Reliance [ Get Quote ] power project in Ghaziabad was being set up to generate 650 kw, but a vicious campaign has been launched by Jan Morcha leaders V P Singh [ Images ] and Raj Babbar, Yadav said addressing an election rally in Agra [ Images ].
He claimed the displaced farmers were paid three-and-a-half times the value of their land as compensation but the Morcha was unnecessarily raking up the issue.
"If the SP is returned to power after the Assembly elections, UP will get an additional 1,930 kw of electricity," he said adding that the state coffers were full and there was enough money to spend on new projects.
Referring to the Central Bureau of Investigations probe ordered into his family assets, Yadav alleged Congress president Sonia Gandhi [ Images ] and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil [ Images ] were after him.
He said he was not afraid and ready to be thrust into prison.
The Supreme Court on March 1 ordered the central agency to probe the allegation Yadav and his family members amassed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
