Three jawans of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force were critically injured in a shootout incident by their own forces inside a CAF Camp on a dispute over women harassment case in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said on Wednesday.

Three jawans were injured in Konta CAF camp when some of them opened fire targeting the Special Police officers and that missed the target and hit the jawans, Konta police sources told PTI by phone today.

It is said that the CAF jawans misbehaved with some women while playing Holi in the Konta relief camp, about 475 km from Raipur.

The SPO protested this and subsequently a scuffle broke out.

Later, when the SPOs and the jawans went to the CAF camp, the issue surfaced again and the jawans shot at the unarmed SPOs, they said.

Incidentally the bullet missed the SPOs and hit three jawans, who were standing behind them, injuring them critically, the police said, adding that the injured have been admitted to the hospital.

The Dantewada District Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Pal had ordered for an inquiry into the incident and the three jawans have been suspended for their alleged involvement in the case, the sources said.
