A Muzzafarnagar court on Friday issued summons against two accused, including the BSP MLA from Bulandshahar Mohammad Alim, to appear before it on June 26, in the four-year-old case of sexual exploitation of Nepali circus girls.

While summoning the MLA, the court also rejected the final report filed by the CBCID where the victims have claimed that the accused are their husbands.

The police had freed 48 Nepali girls from Apollo Circus on June 5, 2003, and had charged Alim and Yunus, the owners of the circus, of sexual harassment after the medical examination of two of the girls confirmed sexual exploitation. They have also been booked under Section 344 of the Indian Penal Code (wrongful confinement).

BSP leader Mayawati, who was the chief minister in 2004, had handed over the probe of the case to CBCID.

Alim was elected MLA in the recent assembly polls.
