National Panther's party chief Bhim Singh on Saturday said that over projection of the alleged Al Qaeda CD by the print and electronic media had badly hit tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Bhim said: 'Both the electronic and the print media have projected the story about the threat of the so-called Al-Qaeda telecast through a Srinagar channel. What substance the CD carried was not that important as was the conduct of the media to publicise the threat by unnamed persons or ghost organizations,' he said.
He expressed apprehension that if nothing was done forthwith then it would even have an affect on the Amarnath Yatra, which begins next month.
