Communist Party of India national secretary D Raja and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam patriarch M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi are among six candidates to be elected to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
The nominations of six candidates -- Kanimozhi and Trichy N Siva (DMK), V Maithreyan and R Ilavarasan from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, D Raja (CPI) and B S Gnanadesikan (Congress) -- were found valid while an independent K Padmarajan's nomination was rejected as he was not proposed by ten legislators, a release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Chennai said.
Padmarajan had also not remitted the security deposit of Rs 5,000, the statement added.
