Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar has declined to accord sanction for prosecution of Chief Minister Mayawati and her cabinet colleague Nasimuddin Siddique in the Rs 175 crore Taj heritage corridor case.

The CBI in its application filed on Tuesday before the designated court, which is hearing the matter, said the Governor has not given sanction for prosecuting Mayawati and Siddique under different sections of IPC by his order dated
June 3, 2007.

The CBI said it had requested the competent authority to accord sanction for prosecution of Mayawati, Siddique, and
state's former environment secretary R K Sharma and another officer R Prasad.

The agency informed the court that the Governor's sanction in respect of Sharma and Prasad was still awaited.
