The Supreme Court on Monday relaxed the bail conditions of Monica Bedi [ Images ], former Bollywood actress and companion of gangster Abu Salem [ Images ], by directing that she would not have to surrender her passport as it has been lost.
The court directed that her passport issued by the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai [ Images ], be cancelled and the Special Cental Bureau of Investigation judge in Hyderabad will consider the order while releasing her on bail.
The order to this effect was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan [ Images ] after Bedi's counsel informed the court that she was not in possession of the passport.
Bedi has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Andhra Pradesh high court in a case of forged passport.
In another similar case, a Madhya Pradesh [ Images ] court has acquitted her.
