The Supreme Court on Monday relaxed the bail conditions of Monica Bedi, former Bollywood actress and companion of gangster Abu Salem, by directing that she would not have to surrender her passport as it has been lost.
The court directed that her passport issued by the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai, be cancelled and the Special Cental Bureau of Investigation judge in Hyderabad will consider the order while releasing her on bail.
The order to this effect was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan after Bedi's counsel informed the court that she was not in possession of the passport.
Bedi has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Andhra Pradesh high court in a case of forged passport.
In another similar case, a Madhya Pradesh court has acquitted her.
