The Maharashtra government has given Rs 4.56 crore towards financial assistance to the victims of the July 11 serial train blasts, a top official said on Tuesday, the eve of the first anniversary of the terror attacks.

Principal Secretary (Relief and Rehabilitation) Rameshkumar said Rs 1.86 crore have been given to relatives of 186 people killed in the blasts.

He said Rs 2.61 crore were given towards treatment of 201 critically injured (Rs 50,000 each) and Rs 10.05 lakh to those who sustained minor injuries (Rs 5,000 each).

Efforts to provide financial assistance to 21 injured, information about whom was received recently, are in progress, Rameshkumar told reporters at state secretariat - "If there is still anyone who is yet to claim the compensation, the state government is in the process of seeking such information."

A coordination committee of the government and Railways is being set up to act on information about those who are yet to file compensation claims, he said.

The government has not been dilly-dallying on providing financial assistance to the blasts' victims, the official said.
