A Border Security Force constable was on Monday found dead with his throat slit in a security force barrack in Doda while another BSF jawan allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself in Rajouri district.
Head Constable Gaviri Ram of 138 battalion was found lying in a pool of blood inside his barrack in the BSF camp Khanetar top area of Poonch district, officials said.
Ram's colleagues discovered him in the morning and it was suspected that he slit his throat with a knife, which was found on the spot, they said, but added the matter was being investigated.
Another jawan of 54 battalion, Satinder Singh Chouhan, allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty in a BSF camp in Rajouri, they said.
The bullet hit him in the abdomen and he had been shifted to the Military Hospital in the district where his condition was stated to be critical.
The officials said a probe had been ordered into both the incidents and Jammu and Kashmir police have registered a case under 309 (attempted suicide) of the Ranbir Penal Code.
