India and Pakistan on Saturday decided that the first meeting of their joint anti-terror mechanism will be held in March.

This was agreed on at a meeting here between visiting External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and his Pakistan counterpart Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri. Their talks lasted over two-and-half hours.

They also agreed to establish a committee comprising judges of the superior judiciary that will examine ways to expedite the release of nationals of both countries languishing in jails.

The anti-terror mechanism was set up at a meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on the sidelines of a NAM Summit in Cuba in 2006.
