A Kolkata court on Thursday granted unconditional bail to social activist Medha Patkar, who was arrested on Wednesday apprehending breach of peace after she tried to go to Singur.
Patkar has broken her fast after the order, one of her aides told PTI.
Soon after her release, she proceeded to Calcutta high court, where she has filed a case for harrasment caused to her, he said.
Patkar was arrested on Wednesday under Section 151 of IPC before she could board a train from Howrah district to meet farmers at Singur, where the West Bengal government has acquired farmland for the Tata Motors' small car unit.
Patkar had refused to sign the bail bond on Wednesday. She also went on fast claiming the arrest as illegal.
