Calm prevailed in Nandigram on Wednesday with no untoward incident reported from any village where villagers are up in arms over the setting up of a special economic zone.

The East Midnapore District Superintendent of Police A K Dutta told PTI that there had been no incident of violence.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj, leading a five-member team of party members of Parliament, arrived in Nandigram on Wednesday morning from Kolkata to assess the post-violence situation.

Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy is also expected to visit the villages.

On Tuesday, police set up camps in four places to restore peace in Nandigram. Camps were set up at Hazra Kata, Tekhali Bazar, Basulichak, scene of Monday's police firing, and Bhangabera bridge.
