Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who is recovering at a nursing home in Kolkata after her 25-day hunger strike against land acquisition at Singur, is stable, doctors have said.

Dr Sudarshan Ghosh Dastidar, who is heading a medical team monitoring Banerjee's health, said she had mild fever on Tuesday evening.

"We have sent her blood sample for investigation, but there is nothing to worry," he said, adding that minor infections do occur after such long fasts and that those can be treated effectively.

"She is improving day by day," Ghosh Dastidar said.

Banerjee had withdrawn her indefinite fast against acquisition of farm land at Singur for the Tata Motors small car project on December 28. Banerjee was admitted to a private nursing home immediately after that as her health had deteriorated sharply.
