Hardline Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has conveyed to Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid M Kasuri that Islamabad was taking 'hasty' steps for ushering peace in the region and should keep off from Kashmir issue if it could not support the separatists.

During his two-hour meeting with Kasuri in New Delhi on Thursday evening, Geelani, who has accused Pakistan of taking a U-turn on Kashmir, told the minister that 'the policy of Islamabad was indicative enough that it had it had agreed to New Delhi's stand on Jammu and Kashmir.'

Criticising Islamabad for coming out often with different plans and roadmaps on Kashmir issue, Geelani, who had left the Pakistan High Commission in a huff on Thursday night, asked Kasuri why he had not raked up the issue of fake encounters and repeal of 'black' laws with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Flaying Islamabad's policy of taking hasty steps, Geelani said in a statement that the present stand of Pakistan was creating 'chaos and confusion' among various groups in Kashmir.

"If Pakistan cannot support the way it has been since 1947 and if there are some compulsions in doing so, leave us alone," Geelani said.

Kasuri told Geelani that Pakistan wanted free movement of people across the border and also establish trade ties between the two parts of Kashmir, it said.
