Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who arrived in India on Tuesday evening, has said that the Pakistan government was waiting to hear from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the investigations into the twin blasts that rocked the Samjhauta Express.

Talking to media persons outside the burns ward of Safdarjung Hospital, where 10 Pakistanis are undergoing treatment, Kasuri said, "First of all, I must express gratitude to the Indian doctors who are taking very good care of the injured. There is some swelling on their faces and I was told that this is something normal in such cases. They will travel to Pakistan after the doctors' advice them to do so."

"We are keen to get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident. Dr Singh, during his telephonic talk with our prime minister, had promised to inform us about the investigations. We are awaiting a report from the government of India," he said.

He referred to the Havana joint statement released at the end of Dr Singh's meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf where the two leaders had talked about evolving a joint mechanism to identify and implement counter-terrorism initiatives and investigations.

He asserted that Pakistan could not be made a scapegoat for rising fundamentalism and it was United States and European countries, which asked the 'tribal boys to fight Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and drive them away.'
