Nine of the 67 people killed in the Samjhauta Express blasts have been identified, police officials said.

Among the dead who have been identified are six Pakistanis and three Indians, they said.

The Indian victims of the blasts who have been identified include a woman, who is a resident of Seelampur area of Delhi and two RPF personnel.

The six Pakistani victims who have been identified are all males, the officials said.

Most of the bodies that were brought to the Civil Hospital in Panipat, were charred beyond recognition, posing difficulties in identifying them.

Relatives of the victims of the trans-border train were identifying them through personal belongings like ornaments and remnants of clothing.

Army jawans from Ambala had been summoned to provide help in embalming the bodies, a police official said.

He said both India and Pakistan were trying to work out modalities for disposal of the bodies, including their despatch to the neighbouring country.
