A rally that left Rajnath fuming

Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh was on Saturday left fuming when he saw a mere 1,500 un-attentive audience at his final election rally in the Khatima assembly segment in Uttaranchal.

This was in contrast to the rallies that he had in the upper reaches of the state where more than 10,000 people attended the three rallies he addressed. What annoyed him further was the presence of 300-odd young school children who had turned up just to see the first helicopter that landed in their area.

After the meeting, Rajnath decided to take on those responsible for organising the rally and sought reasons for the poor show.

"He was supposed to come here at an earlier date, but landed up now. The organisers were sick and tired of bringing in people," a party worker told rediff.com.

Khatima is one of the three Schedule Caste seats in the state.
