A Srinagar court on Saturday remanded two senior police officers allegedly involved in fake encounter killings to 14 days judicial custody.
H R Parihar, former Ganderbal police chief and deputy police superintendent, Special Operations Group Bhadur Ram, were presented before the Srinagar Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Akhoon.
The 14-day police remand of the two officers had ended on Saturday. The police informed the court that they had completed the questioning.
The two were arrested in January in connection with the north Kashmir fake encounters where five civilians had been framed as foreign militants and killed in stage-managed shootouts.
So far, the police have arrested a dozen cops for their alleged involvement in framing and the subsequent murders of the civilians.
The state government had set up a special investigating team headed by Farooq Ahmad, deputy inspector general of police, Central Kashmir range. The team is about to complete the investigation.
Sources here said a challan against the accused would soon be presented here so that the trial of the case starts.
The government has also ordered a judicial probe to be headed by a sitting or retired high court judge.
