6 killed, 3 injured in naxal violence in Chhattisgarh

A Central Reserve Police Force jawan was killed while trying to defuse a landmine and two Salwa Judum (anti-naxal campaign) leaders were shot dead by naxalites in separate incidents in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, police said on Thursday.

The jawan was killed in Aranpur Ghat, about 550 km from Raipur, while trying to defuse the landmine on Wednesday, Dantewada district Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Pal told PTI over phone.

Another jawan was injured in the incident. Naxalites shot dead two Salwa Judum leaders Hapka Ayatu and Palli Pandu yesterday in Kader and Kandulnar villages of Bijapur district, police said.

A Special Police Officer was killed in Bilguda area of Bijapur district, police said.

In another incident, the naxalites attacked a Salwa Judum rally and killed the sarpanch (village head) of Dabbakonta Madkam sukko and another civilian. They injured a CRPF jawan and another civilian in Bhejji area, about 550 km from Raipur, on Tuesday, police said.

Meanwhile, Dantewada police on Thursday nabbed five naxalites and 16 Sangham members or members of naxal cadre from various places, police said.
