Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, along with three other militants at Pampore on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
According to a police spokesman, a police team was conducting a routine search of vehicles when they arrested commander Hamid Bagwan, a resident of Doda, and three others.
He said some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, security forces averted a major tragedy when they detected a live grenade near a school at Boniyar in Uri on Friday. A bomb disposal squad was immediately summoned who later defused it without causing any damage.
