The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday questioned a dismissed sub-inspector of the Uttar Pradesh police in connection with the Nithari serial killings.

Simranjeet Kaur, whose house in Meerut the CBI raided last week, was summoned to the headquarters of the investigating agency and questioned at length over her alleged proximity with Moninder Singh Pandher, a main accused in the serial killings, official sources said.

The CBI had claimed to have recovered from her house some files pertaining to the missing of some of the children and Monday's questioning revolved around those aspects, the sources said.

She was also questioned over her alleged attempt to scuttle the probe in the murder of a woman named Payal, who was allegedly sexually exploited by Moninder, the sources said.

In a related development, the CBI had sent skulls and other skeletal and biomaterial remains to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagonastics, Hyderabad, and roped in more DNA experts to complete the profiling in the case, the sources said.

The CBI custody of Pandher and his servant Surendra Koli, another main accused in the case, is due to expire on February 8.

The agency will seek extension of their custody and keeping in view last time's violent scenes at the Ghaziabad court where Moninder was assaulted, the CBI is deputing a senior official to hold talks with the concerned officials in UP to ensure proper security.
