All out efforts are on to grab power in the 108-member Nasik Munipcal Corporation among the major political formations like the Congress, NCP, BJP, Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray's new floated Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
A day after the state civic body poll results were announced, the NMC house remained hung as neither the saffron alliance nor the NCP-Congress combine managed to secure the required majority of at least 55 seats.
The MNS won 12 seats and others, including independents, RPI, BSP, SP, LJP and PWP, have won 18 seats and will play a key role in grabbing power after the fourth general NMC polls.
Meanwhile, the Congress and the NCP are meeting to take stock of the situation while the saffron alliance too is doing the same.
Shobha Bacchav, Congress MLA and city party chief said her party's attempt was to keep the saffron alliance from power and to form a ruling combine with help of NCP, MNS and others.
The Shiv Sena became the single largest party by winning 26 seats, followed by the BJP (14), the Congress (21) and the NCP (17).
