A Russian woman has been killed and another woman passenger injured when armed robbers opened fire in the 1073 UP Kamrani Express train near Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.
A home department spokesman said that about eight to 10 armed robbers boarded the train when it left Debhaura station in Rewa on Thursday night. They threatened the passengers and began robbing them.
When some passengers resisted, they opened fire, he said.
The Russian woman K Linova, from Moscow, and another passenger Leena of Mumbai suffered injuries and were rushed to the Primary Health Centre in Chitrakoot (UP) when the train reached there, where Linova died, the spokesman said. The injured was referred to district hospital Chitrakoot, he said.
