All eyes are on M P Prakash, the senior politician who quit the Janata Dal-Secular recently, after differences had arisen between him and party chief H D Deve Gowda.
Almost all parties are gunning for Prakash, but the man himself says that no decision on his political future will be made immediately.
He says he will await the outcome of the Gujarat elections before he makes any move. Prakash says there will be political poliarisation after the Gujarat results are out, and hence would wait for the result before he makes any move.
Prakash rubbished talk that he is politically finished after he left the JD-S. "There are many like-minded people who still believe in the concept of democracy. All of us will come together to write a new chapter in the history of Karnataka," Prakash says.
He said he would hold talks with the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party to decide on his future course of action.
Prakash said he would choose a party that believes in internal democracy, as it is a key aspect to run the government and also the party.
The former JD-S leader said he is not interested in floating a new party. He feels a new party will only add to the confusion in the voters' minds. This, he said, would only make matters worse as the votes will get split and no party will have a majority.
Prakash said there are many more from the JD-S who are likely to join him in the near future, adding that there are some who are still undecided about their next move. He, however, was confident that several leaders in the JD-S who are from north Karnataka, will join him.
