Mercury dropped below freezing point at the hill station of Mount Abu as cold conditions remained in most parts of Rajasthan for fifth consecutive day.
While the night temperature at Mount Abu was recorded at minus 1degree Celsius, mercury plummetted to 3.5 and 3.7 degree Celsius in Churu and Pilani respectively, Met office said.
The residents in the state capital also woke up to a chilly morning with the temperature dropping to 4.8 degree celsius, almost four notches below normal.
Others stations in the state recorded a minimum ranging from 5.0 degree Celsius to 9.0 degree Celsius while the maximum temperatures in some parts dipped below 20.0 degree Celsius.
The Met office attributed the intensifying of cold wave conditions to the moving away of the Western Disturbances and intermittent drizzles in some cities.
North-westerly winds in some parts of the state also affected normal life and vehicular traffic. The weather office has predicted a clear sky with a further fall in temperature in the next 24 hours.
