The crucial debate on the Indo-US nuclear deal, which has resulted in a crisis for the central government in the wake of the Left's strident opposition, is likely to be held in the Lok Sabha on August 29 or August 30.
A final decision on the date would be taken depending upon the availability of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi said in New Delhi on Tuesday.
He said that Mukherjee would reply to the debate, but evaded a query about whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would intervene.
"The prime minister may intervene. I have not spoken to him," said Dasmunshi. The debate is crucial as the central government is expected to reveal its stand on the Left's objections in the course of the debate
