The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday served a privilege notice against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for misleading the Lok Sabha on the 123 Nuclear Agreement with the US.

BJP's deputy leader of the House Vijay Kumar Malhotra submitted the notice for the motion of privilege to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.

The BJP has alleged that the prime minister had misled the House through his suo-moto statement on the Indo-US nuclear energy cooperation on Tuesday.

Dr Singh had said that India will continue to hold the right to conduct nuclear tests.

''The agreement does not, in any way, affect India's right to undertake future nuclear tests if it is necessary in India's national interest,'' the prime minister said in his statement.

However, US State Department spokesman Sean McCormach disputed the statement. The Indo-US nuclear agreement will be terminated if New Delhi tested a nuclear device, said McCormach.

The National Democratic Alliance has given four notices for a discussion on the nuclear deal under rule 184.
