Pakistan will continue building nuclear reactors and not wait for an approval from the US, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said on Tuesday. His comments come in the wake of the recently concluded civil nuclear deal between India and US. Pakistan is peeved at not being offered a similar deal.

"Well, on the nuclear deal, we will continue to talk to the United States, but we are not going to wait for them," Kasuri told an Indian TV channel.

Pakistan has put forward a proposal for setting up nuclear parks, said Kasuri.

"As far as spent fuel is concerned, it can be taken away. So, we have put forward the idea of nuclear parks. We are still continuing with our efforts," he added.

Kasuri pointed out that nuclear parity between India and Pakistan has brought peace in the sub-continent.

"We will continue to press our case and continue to build nuclear reactors," said Kasuri.

Speaking about the Indo-US nuclear deal, Kasuri said Pakistan has already told Washington about the need for adopting a "criterion-based approach" in such cases.

If the US does not accept a criterion based approach, then "it would be rational to assume that Pakistanis will think that the deal is not even-handed," said Kasuri.
