A dossier prepared by the Intelligence officials in Karnataka may spell trouble for Dr Haneef Mohammad, who is back in Bangalore after charges against him were dropped in Australia.

The dossier, which mentions that he had allegedly been linked with Al Qaeda, also states that he had been in constant touch with his cousins Dr Sabeel Ahmed and the late Kafeel Ahmed.

It also states that Haneef had links with Dr Bilal Abdullah and that Haneef may have come in touch with terror groups after he completed his education in Karnataka.

There is also information about the financial transaction Haneef had made while he was in Australia. It is stated that he had transferred 960 pounds to Kafeel Ahmed's account in October 2005. The police say that two months later the IISc attack had taken place and this aspect was being looked into. Although Haneef had told the Australian police that the money was sent to Kafeel's family members, the Bangalore police feel that this point needs to be clarified.

The dossier also makes a reference about a bank locker key that was foundin Haneef's possession, which the police suspect may have belonged to Kafeel. This point too is being investigated, the police added.

Although there are references made to Haneef's links, a major part of the dossier deals with the details of his family members.

Haneef, said to be tormented by the turn of events, has been taken away from the city. He has been put up in a house in Srirangapatana, a small town 180 km from Bangalore and also the base of a former ruler of Karnataka, Tippu Sultan.

Haneef's family members say that the allegations are baseless.
