Bangladesh Rifles personnel have been helping its nationals cross over to India in return for money, a man arrested by security forces with two Bangladeshis near the Indo-Pak border alleged on Wednesday.

24-year-old Hussain, who was acting as guide to the two Bangladeshis trying to cross over to Pakistan, was arrested along with his group in Govindgarh area of Ramgarh sector, 45 km from Jammu, last night, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Rajinder Gupta said.

The youth told his interrogators that he had paid Bangladeshi currency equivalent to Rs 75,000 to BDR men for helping to bring a group of Bangladeshis across the border to India, Gupta said.

The rate for crossing is fixed, the arrested guide alleged, adding that he had come to India recently with four others to send them to Pakistan via the border in Jammu.

Hussain, who claimed to be a computer engineer, had also told his interrogators that he had been regularly sending Bangladeshi nationals to Pakistan where his father, a retired private employee, stays, Gupta said.

He said there were three other persons also working as guides to facilitate sending Bangladeshis to Pakistan.

The police were searching for two other Bangladeshis, who were also part of the group, Gupta said, adding, "We recovered Rs 3500 in Indian currency, 15 Bangladeshi taka and two CDs from Hussain."

Further interrogation of the arrested Bangladeshi nationals was on, the SSP said.
