Prime Minister Manmohan Singh chaired a high-powered meeting on Monday night to discuss modalities to set up a committee to ascertain whether troops withdrawal in Jammu and Kashmir was warranted or not.
Besides Dr Singh, the meeting was attended by Defence Minister A K Antony, Army Chief J J Singh, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan and others to work out a mechanism to assess whether troops withdrawal was feasible in summer months when snow melts from the mountain passes and are easy for infilitration, sources said.
There was, however, no official word about the nature of the meeting.
