Maharashtra Director General of Police P S Pasricha on Monday said the police had got some "solid leads" to believe that the explosives used in the Malegaon blasts were similar to those used in the July 11 train blasts in Mumbai.

"Yes reports about similarity between the two incidents are coming in to us. We are looking into it. We have also got a few more solid leads that we are working on and I don't think it would be wise to reveal that at this moment," Pasricha told reporters in Mumbai when asked whether there was any similarity in explosives used in the two blasts.

Pasricha however denied that any specifc information warning the police about the Malegaon blasts had been received.

He said terror incidents could only be prevented with the help of community support.

"Small towns like Varanasi and Malegaon are what we call soft targets, because they don't have the kind of security presence as major metros do. We have been saying that since police cannot be present everywhere, it is the community which has to remain alert and help police to check such incidents," Pasricha said in Mumbai on the sidelines of the 9/11 commemoration ceremony at the US consulate.
