Intensive search operations were on for two policemen of Koyilibeda police station kidnapped by naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, police said on Friday.

Six armed naxalites kidnapped constables Ajen Nareti and Shiv Charan Markam at gun-point last evening between Sulangi and Goudegaon villages, about 225 km from Raipur, and took them to a nearby jungle, Koilibeda Police Station sources told PTI over phone from Kanker.

When contacted, Kanker District Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gupta said police parties have been sent to several places to trace their abducted colleague.

"But we have no information about them and the naxalites have not left any leaflet or message regarding their demand," he said.

The two were kidnapped when they were returning from Antagarh, about 30 km from Koyilibed on their own motorcycle after collecting their salary, police added.

The naxalites had earlier stopped a passenger jeep and detained its passengers at the spot, about seven km from Koyilibeda. But after kidnapping the policemen, they let the jeep go, the passengers of that vehicle informed the police on reaching at Koyilibeda.
