A head constable with the Jammu and Kashmir police has been arrested for allegedly having links with militants in Rajouri district, official sources said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Sharief, who was absconding for a week, was arrested on Tuesday from Rajouri town.
Sharief was posted at district police lines at Rajouri, they said.
His wife Ruksana Begum was earlier detained for questioning after recovery of a satellite phone from their house in Kalaban area of Rajouri district. The couple was allegedly using it to contact Jaish-e-Mohammad militants.
Sharief had gone underground soon after the arrest of a Jaish financial chief Amzad and his associates. He has been sent for detailed interrogation, the sources said.
The police suspect that Sharief was involved in transferring money to militants through 'hawala' transactions, supplying information and even arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, security forces have busted two militant hideouts and recovered arms and explosives.
At Mankot in Mendhar tehsil, security forces recovered one pistol, 389 sniper rounds, 34 AK rounds and one RPG ammunition.
They recovered three kg RDX, 20 AK rounds, one magazine, three remote control IED circuits, four grenades and two detonators from Loharki, the sources said.
