7/11: Court allows narco tests on 3 accused

A special court on Monday allowed the Anti-terrorism Squad to conduct narco analysis tests on three accused in July 11 train blasts case.

The order was passed by designated Judge of Maharashtra [ Images ] Control of Organised Crime Act Mrudula Bhatkar on a plea made by ATS.

ATS said they would like to subject accused Mohammed Ali Alam Shaikh, Mohammed Majeed Shaikh and Asif Khan Bashir Khan to narco analysis tests to determine certain aspects of the conspiracy which were key to the probe.

ATS alleges that bombs used in the July 11 blasts were assembled at the residence of accused Mohammed Ali Shaikh.

Asif Khan is said to be mastermind behind the blasts while Mohammed Majeed is charged with helping other accused from Pakistan in crossing the Bangladesh border and entering India [ Images ].

The trio would be taken to a forensic laboratory in Bangalore in a day or two, ATS sources said.

Mumbai [ Images ] police, which claims to have solved the July 11 blasts case, are currently working on the intricacies of the conspiracy.

ATS believes the narco analysis tests may throw light on the finer aspects of the conspiracy giving them further leads in the probe.
