Two militants of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba and a soldier were killed and another soldier injured in a 24-hour-long fierce gun battle in south Kashmir, official sources said on Friday.
They said security forces on specific information, conducted a search operation in a village near Shopian in south Kashmir district of Pulwama early on Thursday.
However, when the security forces were sealing the village, militants attacked them with automatic weapons.
Security forces returned fire and then the militants entered a house.
Sources said reinforcements was rushed to the area from nearby camps and the militants were repeatedly asked to surrender.
The operation continued till Friday morning in which two LeT militants were killed.
Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from slain militants.
