As the danger of dengue looms over the region, Humlog -- a city-based non governmental organisation -- has come up with a four-minute animation film aimed at creating awareness among people about the disease.
The NGO founder Dr Gaurav Chhabra told PTI that the film would be screened in schools.
"It's our endeavour by spreading the word so that more and more people can watch the film and get necessary information and protect themselves against this deadly disease," he said.
Humlog has released its animation film in Hindi titled Bablu aur Dengue.
"The film can also be downloaded from our web site www.humlog.org and the MMS version of it can be downloaded to spread the message through multimedia mobile phones too, he said.
"The film tells about dengue by means of conversation between a class teacher and her students during their visit to a sick child's home. The discussion highlights the points to be taken care of for the prevention of dengue and what to do it symptoms develop," he said.
The team that created the film consists of students from NIFT, Chandigarh. Chhabra said, "Our team has the potential to educate larger number of people, but we are hit by lack of any funding."
"If we get funding partners, we will also use stage plays to conduct school health education programmes on dengue awareness," he added.
"We have been actively producing, syndicating, screening, disseminating, broadcasting films on health issues through various media," he said.
Humlog has also made MMS films on AIDS awareness and tobacco control.
"Using the latest web technologies, we share the films in e-mail attachments with a large number of audience throughout the globe," he said.
"All this is being driven by passion for the cause. We are yet to approach sponsors or funding agencies to widen the scope of our work. We want to extend our work to the deprived and uneducated masses," Chhabra said.
