Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani was on Saturday put under house arrest again.
Official sources said the step was taken as a precautionary measure.
A spokesman for the HC Aiyaz Akbar told UNI that a large number of Jammu and Kashmir police personnel had been deployed outside Geelani's residence in Hyderpora locality of the state since early Saturday morning.
Akbar said Geelani was to lead a procession from Kashmir University to holy Hazratbal shrine on Saturday afternoon to protest against the Delhi court's order to hang Mohammad Afzal Guru, prime accused in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case.
He said last week Geelani was under house arrest for two days and was not allowed to offer Friday prayers on September 29 in the mosque.
