Six hours after the media first carried the reports that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's two grandsons Rohan and Madhav, 17 and 11 respectively, have been admitted in the Emergency Ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment of Dengue, the hospital officials deny knowledge of the presence of the two VVIP children.

"We have also heard the reports but we have no intimation about the two children being admitted to AIIMS for treatment," Dr Shakti Gupta told rediff.com around 7pm in the evening.

Meanwhile two more patients died of dengue in medical institute bringing the total number of deaths to 3. Last week a student of seventh semester died because of the disease.

"Since August 2006, we had 158 patients admitted for treatment. Right now we have 72 patients out of which 19 are hostlers of AIIMS," Dr Gupta said.

Ashutosh Tewari, a student of biochemistry, admitted that cleanliness was much better in the hospital than what it was a week back.

"But most of the cases of dengue are coming from the hostels which are adjacent to the open drain at the back of the hospital. The cases are coming from hostels 3,4,5 and 6. It is wrong to say that mosquitoes were breeding in water coolers. Because most of the rooms are air conditioned and hence there is no room for mosquito breeding," he pointed out as his colleagues nodded.

The hospital administration pressed into service as many as 10 smoking and fuming machines to clean up the rooms and surroundings. "This is a routine exercise. We do the smoking twice a day," claimed Dr Gupta.
